Infrastructure Update

Bye bye Google and AWS, hello Cloudflare and Netlify!

Hey all!

So sorry that Better Skill Capped hasn’t been working as well in the last week or so.

Google recently announced that it had sold Google Domains to Squarespace. I don’t like that, so I moved Better Skill Capped along with all my other domains from Google Domains to Cloudflare. I started the migration last week, but unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to finish it until today.

I also moved the infrastructure hosting both the site and the worker that keeps the list of videos up-to-date from AWS to Netlify and Cloudflare Workers + Cloudflare R2. I also set up CI to continuously deploy any improvements I make to both the site and the background worker. This should make it a bit easier to work on the project in the future.

If you previously used the raw manifests, those locations have been moved to manifest.better-skill-capped.com. The manifest contains the video and course information that Better Skill capped publically provides and is how Better Skill Capped functions. It is updated every 15 minutes.

I completed this work a short while ago. I expect the site should now be as stable and reliable as it has been in the past.
