Introducing Dark Mode, Advanced Filters, and Analytics!

I released an updated today that adds a few nice features to Better Skill Capped.

Dark Mode

Most operating systems including Windows 10 and macOS allow you to set a dark/light color theme. If your systems theme is set to dark then you’ll automatically see the dark version of the website.

A few new filters were added as well which allow you to see only the videos you’ve watched, only the videos you haven’t bookmarked, and to filter content by its type.

Advanced Filters

These filters should help make content easier to organize and discover.

Wider Mobile Layout

The mobile website has been made slightly wider to allow easier of the browsing of the site.

New Domain

Better Skill Capped has moved! The site is now accessible at https://better-skill-capped.com/

This new domain looks a little more professional, and will hopefully be a bit easier to remember.

Fixed Downloads

Skill Capped updated their APIs a couple of months ago which resulted in the download function being broken. The download function is now working again.

Click the download button on your desktop to get a .m3u8 file which is playable in media players like VLC on Windows or IINA on macOS.

If you’re on a mobile device using Android or iOS the video should automatically open up in a video player. You can even cast these videos from your desktop/mobile device straight to a TV with a Chromecast or Apple AirPlay!

Analytics

Basic analytics have been added to the site to help me understand what features are used, and how many users are on the site. This should help me with future work on the site.
